When I learned that the overwhelming majority of reported data center water usage was "scope-2" usage — usage caused by generating the power used by data centers — my immediate thought was, "Huh, what's the scope-2 water usage of eating a salad?"

I don't begrudge them their column space, but I also think Sandoval was telling the truth when he said it never occurred to him that the regents wouldn’t be aware that the column was being published.

Love or hate Amodei's politics, but at least he touches enough grass (and trees?) to cultivate a crusty local conservativism instead of the more nationally notorious variety some of his colleagues prefer.

Also, NV-2 is an R+7 district that reliably votes R+10+, so he's about as good as we can get.

Frameworks and rules are legible in a way culture and values aren't. That's why many who want to push society in their preferred direction focus on them — in much the same way the drunk looks for his keys under the lamp since that's where the light is.
