Adults (average BMI 25) ate:

2 cups fruit daily or none for 8 wk

(8-wk "washout period" - pretty good, all considered)

Fruit (including bananas, apples, oranges, watermelon)

👉 ⬆️ some blood nutrients
👉BUT insulin resistance better without the fruit

The notion of "ultra-processed" food is so complicated, not even @fda.gov knows how to define it.

There's a simpler way. Focus on the main health offenders:

👉Refined grains, sugar, and other highly processed carbs.

I don't believe I have Viking ancestors, but if I do, they would be proud. 😀

Last day of 5-day fast. Nice ketone bump.

Overall, went well. Day 3 was the hardest. Now feeling good, little hunger, consistent energy.

Admittedly, looking forward to first meal this afternoon. Will build up slowly, 3 days.

PLANS: 1 day fast every couple weeks. Longer fast every 3 months.

Fast Day 4.

Feeling better today, after some hunger and mental fuzziness yesterday.

Entering deeper ketosis, BOHB 3.4 ... a bit ahead of schedule.

Will probably end fast tomorrow evening, after completing day 5 (rather than 6 as originally planned).

Do medical tailored meals improve T2 diabetes?

Treatment group received home delivery of 12 meals weekly for 3 months + supports

Meals per Am Heart Association guidelines, each with 60g carb (add snack, total daily carb = 200g)

👉"Intervention uptake was good but did not improve clinical outcomes"

N=1 experiment:

Prolonged total fast, just coffee & electrolytes.

Completing Day 2 of planned 6 days.

Surprisingly easy so far, no hunger, good energy (15k ride no problem).

Will see about longterm benefits. (Immediate benefit, no need to floss).

(Do seek expert guidance if trying first time)
