As a professional gardener I liken the enthusiastic embrace of AI to the way, for much of the 1900's, chemicals were the solution to every environmental problem. Sadly, once again, it is the environment that is going to suffer greatly for our zealous and shortsighted embrace of AI as omni-solution.

I had a mild case in the creases of my fingers decades ago and I shudder to imagine how it could get to the stage shown in that photo except when other determinants of health (including access to care) are lacking. It ITCHES like CRAZY.

Ahhh, limerence. Definitely a useful term and state to be aware of. I can’t remember when I first learned the term but it’s been at least a decade now. Pairs well with attachment theory.
Interesting the different ways folks interviewed for the piece understand its psychological significance.
