In System Shock's defense, its control scheme still beats using the arrow keys or number pad to look around like other older games, it's just a funky WASD with all camera control being relegated to the keyboard.

UUW2 had some really good moments like the prison tower full of goblins you could bluff your way into entering peacefully then getting the troll to wipe them all out. The pseudo-WASD controls make the game a lot easier to play than most first person games from that era too.

The analog stick on the Gamecube controller was nice and stiff with limited directions which made it okay for tank control games like REmake for me but yeah the d-pad is ass.

Tried replaying EU/EW but you just have way more tools to deal with the random bullshit in 2 and don't have moments like thin men dropping on top of you and triggering an overwatch, poisoning your squad.

Turning it on completely does make a difference but I ended up settling for overriding the high dpi scaling behavior for System(Enhanced) then making the HUD use a large font.

Yeah the fonts get all fucked up even in exclusive fullscreen, but changing the scaling back to 100% instead of 125% fixes it. Not sure if you can even fix it since DarkBasic is old as hell but worth mentioning in case someone else with a big screen mentions it on the forums or something.

Noticed your game does not play nice with Windows scaling. I have to disable my fractional scaling to not have messed up visuals in Brigand.

Game gets an unfair rap nowadays because it doesn't explain suspicion very well. I like having to stealth when wearing a disguise even if having it be immediately broken the second someone spots you sprinting is goofy.

Did you have any involvement with the renderer for SS1? I always thought it was interesting that the game has proximity based texture filtering for sprites (and interpolation?) in a 1994 game that is purely software rendered. Myth: TFL had it as well but only when the camera was static.
