"God Bless America" (2011). 16 minutes in. The office monologue.

If you know, you know. If you don't, you need to watch Joel Murray deliver the definitive speech on why everyone needs to just shut up and be nice. A masterpiece of rage.

I Melt with You (2011) is the final boss of "dudes having a bad time" movies. Just Rob Lowe, Tom Jane, and Jeremy Piven in a mansion in Big Sur, fueling a suicide pact with enough illicit substances to kill a horse & a great soundtrack!

Lisztomania (1975) is not a film. It is a crime scene. It makes Tommy look tame by comparison. Lots of rock god faces and cult craziness in this one.
I don’t know what was in the water in the 70s, but I want a sip.

The Coens & Bruno Delbonnel shot this in the color of a wet winter coat. It’s the visual texture of grief. Oscar Isaac playing live, no playback, just raw acoustic vulnerability.

Roman Holiday (1953) is a coming-of-age story about a woman reclaiming her own voice. The ending is perfect because it hurts. Princess Ann doesn’t choose the guy. She chooses herself.

The second Thanksgiving film tradition. This one I made myself. :)
It remains the ultimate "Safe Harbor" film. No matter how chaotic the modern world gets, the HMS Surprise is always sailing, and the coffee is always hot.

A masterpiece of 18th-century mise-en-scène, candlelit malice, and F. Murray Abraham giving one of the greatest performances in history. It is also a Thanksgiving traditional watch. T-day cheers to my great aunt and favored cousin.

No wasted frames, just pure, hard-boiled cynicism and a rogue cop tearing a city apart. Lee Marvin is terrifying, but Glenn Ford’s "righteous" anger is almost just as scary. A masterpiece of efficiency.

The dissonant, avant-garde score (from John Williams, of all people!) mixed with Stomu Yamashta’s percussion and the constant, whispering diegetic sounds... it’s the literal architecture of a fracturing mind. #FilmSky #MovieSky #Horror #HATM. #Noirvember

Lloyd Bridges lands in England only to see his old love (Moira Lister) shoot a mysterious, limping figure. The Limping Man (1953) is a taut, atmospheric B-noir capturing that post-war paranoia - the past is never truly dead

Rudolph Maté turns a sprawling, chaotic LA train station into a a labyrinth of steam and shadow. It's the perfect stage for a kidnapping procedural, where the public, anonymous crowd becomes the villain's best cover.

Otto Preminger’s Laura (1944) is no simple whodunit; it’s a sophisticated, dreamlike obsession. Gene Tierney is the hypnotic center, but Clifton Webb’s Waldo Lydecker remains one of noir’s greatest monsters. #Noirvember #FilmSky #FilmNoirClub #FilmNoir #MovieSky

The ultimate "sunset noir." Less about the whodunnit, more about the heavy melancholy of aging, loyalty, and facing the end of the line. That hazy, end-of-an-era cinematography is just chef's kiss.

A gritty pre-code gem with some outstanding examples of early miniature model making in film. A rough-edged railroad love triangle (Mary Astor, Regis Toomey, James Cagney).

In reality, it's a masterclass in industrial mise-en-scène.

a 67-minute gut-punch from the absolute bottom of the Depression. Raw, unsentimental look at 30's kids forced to ride the rails, living in "Sewer Pipe City," facing a reality of rape, amputation, and killing a railroad bull.

Carnage: The camera isn't just an observer; it's the interrogator, locking the door and shrinking the walls of that apartment in real-time. Watching these four "civilized" adults devolve is like watching fine china crack under pressure. Vicious

Rabid (1977). #Cronenberg takes the parasitic-intimacy of Shivers and unleashes it as a city-wide, apocalyptic plague. Genius casting Marilyn Chambers as tragic "Patient Zero"—not a monster, but as a vector. #OctoberMovieChallenge #FilmSky #Horror #BodyHorror
