This last couple of nights I’ve been staying at the (tiny) hotel I always choose (if the choice is mine) in Paris: l’Hôtel, rue des Beaux-Arts. Needless to say it causes endless ‘mirth’ with taxistes: «mais bien sûr monsieur, mais quel hôtel en rue des Beaux-Arts, comment s'appelle-t-il ?»

Last night I *feasted* at Le Christine, beginning with an olive 🫒 (!) an “aspiration” of anchovy & a Spanish vermouth mousse followed by a heavenly sardine; with caviar, roasted japanese caviar; lardo & smoked beurre blanc

Popped over to Paris to catch one of the last days of the epic ‘Hockney 25’ retrospective @ Fondation Louis Vuitton. What a breathtakingly good show!

Contempt of court laws are doing nothing to help the good administration justice, and an awful lot to harm it. But the justice system cling to them as if they’re a life jacket rather than an anchor.

Something that the Lucy Connolly case has illustrated - something that is well known to those who work in criminal justice but often overlooked in public debate - is the complexity and nuance in the lives and characters of people appearing before the courts.

My new fish filleting knife 👌… lovely weight to the handle. The curve of the tip will work better than the straighter blade of my otherwise lethally-awesome meat boning knife

Aesthetical day: such a gr8 luncheon with chums; collected the reframe of my new drawing by an artist I collect (well, the 3rd 😂); & peonies (!).

I ❤️ English peonie season: brief, blousy & utterly gorgeous 😊

& Yorkshire wild 🐇 defrosting for a 🍄‍🟫, 🌿 fricassé & a terrine 😋

Judging by my fridge, it’s totally asparagus season 😂

White asparagus - a luncheon thing / homemade hollandaise sauce - but feeling risotto for the green asparagus

But natch my pee smells like clotted cream this time of year 😂

I don’t have prostate cancer! Lady urologist said my MRI was completely clear. “Your prostate is larger than most men’s; double the weight, so a PSA score of 7-8 is completely normal for you. I’ll tell your GP you should have an annual PSA test but no need to see again you unless goes over 10” 😀

Media reporting also needs to be clear about Trump's relative unpopularity. This is not normal - even in these polarised times.
Nothing to be scared of here in political terms. One of the least popular presidents is now even less popular than he was in his first term. People need to come out from under rocks.

Short version: if you're a guy with a track record of defaulting on debts, and you give people the impression you might be considering defaulting on your debts, people get less keen on lending you their money...

For veterans of the Eurozone crisis, this is quite incredible - today Greece has a lower borrowing cost than both the UK and the US for their 10 year bonds.

I had to check, all of the previous so called 'PIIGS' (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain) have lower borrowing costs than the US today.

Now the market drops 1k points every day for the last week and you claim it's the economy running well. Do you understand why that's a tough argument?"

Ok what’s going on here?

Yields are going up which means bond prices are going down.
Fewer buyers of the world’s safest asset.

Normally when the economy slows, there’s a flight to safety, not away from it.

Means the world may be abandoning America.

We are flirting with a true crisis.
10-year yield going vertical here. Something’s gonna break.
