Here to discuss and analyze global defense policy and support for Ukraine.
There’s a lot of issues with taxing unrealized gains especially in todays trading environments. Taxing people based on spot or perceived market values would not work well.

Volatility and liquidity issues aside you’d run into quite a few other issues as well. Increasing a marginal rate would help.

I personally would disagree. The SIGINT on some U.S aircraft and drones is absolutely insane. Some of the upgraded BLQ-10’s on the submarines and other SIGINT/ EW assets across U.S fleets are just insane.

The NSA and CIA also operate crazy complex bases like pine gap & menwith hill.

Unfortunately Israel won’t even let spike ATGM’s go to Ukraine let alone PULS and its air defense systems. Would have been a lot easier to supply Ukraine if Israel and South Korea would’ve been willing to export to Ukraine.

Israel, Türkiye and SK all have ATACMS analogs while Europe doesn’t.

I’ll do another analysis on this sometime in more depth but I just wanted to leave a few thoughts.

One of Ukraines saving Graces is that their defense industry currently produces 1/3 of what they need domestically and their DIB has rapidly expanded to meet the occasion. By later this year they aim to be at 50% of needs met domestically but this will depend on outside funding for their industry.

Things like SBIRS satellites and U.S Intel aren’t exactly replaceable either. Europe has some satellite and Intel capability’s as does Ukraine but it pails in comparison to U.S capability’s.

European countries may still be able to transfer their own patriot interceptors and A2A missiles for Ukrainian jets snd NASAMS systems however it remains unclear if reexport will be hampered by the administration.

Lots of cruise missiles flying right now I believe some hit so far and some ballistics earlier

That’s generally the case for Cruise missiles that or electronics.

If they were able to produce 100 Neptune missiles. I would assume engine production and some key electronic systems are the limiting factors in scaling cruise missile production besides funding.
