Cranky lioness. You know me from Twitter. Cats, game design, Judaism, and very long threads. (She/her)
They are rarely good at things unless they have a woman (and/or a whole staff) doing their entire lives for them.

I don’t know, but the story itself doesn’t treat the miraculous nature of the healing as the point (Jesus is saying you should heal people on Shabbat, the Pharisees are saying you shouldn’t), so I’m not sure why it matters. The argument is about healing-as-healing, not healing-as-miracle.

Yup, a “withered hand” isn’t going to kill you, especially not before Shabbat ends.

“Christians did a bad thing, let’s reinforce Christian villainization of a marginalized group to talk about how Christians did a bad thing!”

I want every one of these men to have to explain themselves to Mr. Rogers.

At no point did it occur to me to contemplate drugging and torturing 200 people, like not even as a thought exercise.

The other day at work and I got bored so I gazed out the window at the condo high rise next door and I daydreamed about what kind of condo building I’d build for myself and all my friends if I had no budget constraints, light wells and plant walls and a craft center and sauna.

The planet’s dying, we have literally nothing to lose.

INDEED

Imagine if instead of raping their wives until their organs fall out, they did something productive with their time.

Or, I dunno, indulged in a nonviolent hobby! Enjoyed some free time that didn’t involve torture!

This isn’t some serial-killer rapist anomaly. These are just… husbands.

I do not understand how it is possible to look at someone you’re supposed to love, recovering from major, traumatic surgery, not healed yet, and to be like “I should pressure her into sex, who gives a shit if it wrecks her body.”
December 5, 2025 at 9:05 PM
…pressuring someone to have sex a few days post “they basically gut you like a fish” surgery is rape.

And prolapse is your organs falling out. Like I dunno why anyone should sugarcoat it: this is pretty extreme coercion and violence.
December 5, 2025 at 9:04 PM
My friend, btw, is not married to a man, and she was like “these women don’t even understand that what happened there was that their husbands raped them until their organs literally fell out.”

And I guarantee you that none of these husbands or wives are understanding it that way, but…
December 5, 2025 at 9:02 PM
And then post after post of “I felt guilty because my husband was complaining that I wouldn’t have sex with him so I did and now I have prolapse.”
December 5, 2025 at 9:01 PM
And yeah, I’m extra mad today because a friend joined a hysterectomy support group and it was just post after post after post of women being like “I’m 3 days post surgery, how do I hold off from sex with my husband until I feel better, he’s getting really impatient.”

Like we’d probably be in Star Trek post-scarcity utopia by now if half our population weren’t largely dedicating itself to torturing the other half.
