One thing that always stuck with me is that I assumed the biggest cause of liver cancer was alcoholism. Nope! The primary cause of these cancers is metastatic colorectal cancer and cirrhosis comes in third. The second? You guessed it, hepatitis.

For many years I've made Moroccan carrots with garlic, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, olive oil. Add lemon juice, fresh parsley, olives at the end. They are so good. My kids inhale them.

They're also more likely to be exposed to Hep B in the first place. In short, the babies who are high-risk to begin with will become more so by delaying this vaccine. In short, let's just keep widening this gulf between the well-off and poor until...they just have to watch their babies die, I guess?

I don't have to tell you the the difficulty and cost of healthcare here means many babies do not get their regular well visits. And which ones are most likely to miss them? The ones whose parents are already back at working, or absent, or poor.

More to the point: EU healthcare access and affordability all but ensures that babies will get their follow-up appointments, including the one at age 2 months when they are scheduled for their first Hep B vaccine.
December 2, 2025 at 3:20 PM
There is no safety or efficacy bump by delaying the vaccine past birth. The oft-cited "the EU doesn't do Hep B at birth" is not a good comparison: screening for pregnant women is universal there. It's not here, and of the pregnant women who do test positive in the US, only 35% (!) receive treatment.
