12 species in SJ93. 6 Box Moths is the most in one night here. Also a late Light Emerald, a Gold Spot, Fig of 8 and Black Rustic. #TeamMoth

16 species in SJ93 last night. Most surprising I guess was a Magpie Moth and a Riband Wave; late for both. Nice melanic Box-tree moth and a gorgeous Black Rustic. #TeamMoth

The Kite-tailed Robberfly at Holkham, snacking on what looks like a Common Darter. Surprised that it took something so much bigger that itself!

There was an amazing number of Common Darters at Titchwell, Cley and Holkham last week. Great to see so many.

Early morning at Wells-next-the-Sea. Light not great at that time. Love the sound of the Brent Geese chuntering to themselves. The Great Black-back caught a ?Plaice or Flounder.
Brent Geese Curlew Great Black-back with a flatfish of some kind.

Redshanks should be called orange shanks! These were taken at Titchwell RSPB, Norfolk. #norfolkoct25

Common Darters were very common around Cley, Titchwell and Holkham last week.

Found a number of Wasp Spider egg masses but sadly no adults in Norfolk last week. Did see this female Roesel's Bush Cricket and Willow Emerald at Titchwell RSPB. #norfolkoct25

Lots of Migrant Hawker dragonflies along the North Norfolk coast last week. This one at Cley.

Just back from Wells-next-the-Sea. Didn't take a trap but this Least Carpet was on the cottage window. #TeamMoth

At Titcwell all the waders got up. Looked for a raptor and saw this flying off. It was big and didn't strike me as a Sparrowhawk. Bulging secondaries, long tail, gliding on slightly bowed wings. Poor photos I know but what do folks think? Goshawk perhaps?

Thanks Moira; will check it out.

Anyone you recognise this? It was along a verge in Wells-next-the-sea. Suspect an escape gone wild. @naturelark.bsky.social

Can't visit Trentham without popping to the Kingfisher hide! One brief landing put a number of fly-bys.

Turned dull at Trentham Gardens but managed a tick in form of the caddis Limnephilus decipiens plus a hoverfly I have not seen for a good while Chalcosyrphus nemorum.

nothing so interesting in Stone; just 32 Lunar Underwings.

Next year's Green-veined Whites in the making. They may be common but they are quite pretty.

48 Lunar Underwings made up most of the catch. There is a small gap beneath the patio door and was interesting that a tight cluster of 8 gathered there. Wonder if its a pheremone thing. Also a Rush Veneer and Silver Y. #TeamMoth

Not a great photo but just had this confirmed as a Willow Emerald by the CR. It is from Womere on Cannock Chase, Staffs. Never really expected it there as there is only a small scrubby willow; more birches. Spreading slowly across the county.

One of my favourite spots on Cannock Chase has got to be Womere pool. Fantastic spot for dragonflies. Here is a fine Common Hawker, showing off the distinctive yellow leading edge (costa) to the wing.

Pleasant couple of hours on Cannock Chase. These were the only two Fallow Deer that we saw.
