I'm an artist that works on a webcomic called Myriad Voyages along with some other fun art! It's about two girls who are trying to become mercenaries as an interdimensional conspiracy slowly threatens their galaxy!

Working on doing that frieren head art trend thing that's been happening. Since the idea is generally improving, I guess I'll show my process of doing the angle.

The left part is just some refs I used and me blocking out the angle initially. The sketch is cleaned up since the initial one is messy.

A lot of Mara's backstory that is being dripfed is pretty dramatic. Here's the most recent tidbits!

Unfortunately, this was censored in the webtoon release but it's unchanged in all other platforms!
A panel showing Mara's (going by Amana at this point in her life) biological mother choking her. Mara's dialogue: "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" "Mom, you're hurting me!" "I..." "...I can't breathe..." Some dialogue in another language of Amana's parents harshly judging two boys sharing a kiss. Amana is shown looking down in shame as her mother warns her not to disgrace the family. "<Disgusting. I hope their folks whipped them good.>" "I better not see you disgracing the family like that y'hear girl?" "Could you imagine the embarrassment?" Amana's father coldly remarks that he'd kill any kin of his that engages in such acts as Mara looks down in shame and fear.

Maybe Mara? People seem to like her energy and lot! 😺

Wish Jade got a bit more love too but Mara, at this point of the story, is getting most of the focus, so it does make sense lol.
Mara uses her powers her arm around her "best friend" Jade. Mara Fisher stretches her arm to point at a sign with her name on it.

Decided to fiddle around with differentiating the facial proportions of Mara when she's younger vs present time in the story.

I had to add an establishing shot of the Fisher household to the special chapter. I wanted to push myself a little to improve from the initial showing of it.

I wanted to get pretty creative with the mutated coral reefs and stuff lol.
