That means it was also the fic-a-versary of Unfit for Human Consumption, a fic/podfic I find myself revisiting often.

Coming up for #OFMDKinktober!

"What would you be, if you were a statue?" Stede asked, at dinner.

They'd chosen a random spot on the river, and watched the foot traffic on the nearest bridge as they ate. Everything looked soft in the golden sunset.

"I'd like to be in a park," Stede went on. "High on a cliff, so I could look out on the sea. And maybe at the head of a road of some kind, where I'd get to see people start off on adventures."

"That's cool. But what would you *be*?"

"Oh, I don't know. A centaur?"

"What? Why?"

Stede peered into the foam of his Czech beer. "Some sort of cryptid, anyway. For fun, but also– If I'm not some kind of art, if I'm just a representation, there's less chance of... Well, of graffitti, or suddenly being rejected by the Council, or people rubbing my toe for luck, or something."

"I get it– You don't want to be perceived "

"I mean, I do! I want to be admired." Stede struck a pose, chin out, lips pursed "But I don't want to be defaced."

"You'd make an attractive centaur, babe."

"What about you? I asked you first?"

He didn't oeer into his mug like Stede had, but took a long pull. He liked that ribbon statue and wasn't sure why. There was a sense of new freedom about it. They could just be playing, but he didn't think so. It definitely looked like someone breaking out of bonds.

"Probably just be a pirate or something. Head of smoke and flame."

"Really? Why? To scare everyone off?"

"Dunno."

"But you're imagining what others might sculpt. What do *you* want to be?"
