Supporting Supreme Court expansion is pretty close to a litmus test for me for a 2028 Democratic candidate.

Trump’s birthday!?!?! TRUMP’S BIRTHDAY?!!?!??!???
The Trump administration has changed which holidays qualify for free entrance to national parks, removing two holidays celebrating Black people and adding the president’s birthday.

National parks change prioritizes Trump birthday over days honoring Black people
Free entrance days at national parks no longer include MLK Day and Juneteenth.

What's changed is that the Court has become more transparent in its corruption. There's not even an argument here beyond the implicit one which is: how do you expect us to hold the House without those seats?
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

The Democrats tried to do this very thing in ‘21 and ‘22.

No Republican supported it.

SCOTUS rules IOKIYAR.

What we know is that table stakes for EVERY Democrat running for office is SCOTUS reform that includes expansion, term limits, and mandatory retirement.

Whether to impeach any of corrupt 6 should be a conversation
BREAKING: Supreme Court sides with Texas Republicans in fight over congressional map. The new gerrymandered map will be used in the 2026 midterms. The vote is 6–3, with the Republican appointees siding with Texas.

NEW: The Trump Justice Department failed to secure an indictment today against New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Grand jury declines to indict N.Y. Attorney General Letitia James, less than two weeks after the first case was dismissed
Federal officials failed to secure the new indictment against James, whom Trump has targeted, after a judge said the previous one was secured by an unlawfully appointed prosecutor.

This is an excellent thread that identifies a really important thing - that the right is burning through A LOT of money & still not getting the results they desire.

But read it all....good stuff.
i've had a couple of whiskeys so either i'm going to have more and get into details or have more and avoid details but

the GOP and GOP-aligned groups continue to flail in local/state elections that they have openly invested in, deeply, and when they win by inches it's a huge sign of actual loss

One thing that will happen is a bunch of Republicans in safe Republican seats who have never had to run a real campaign will find themselves in competitive races for which they won’t be prepared.

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

No one shld lose sight of the fact that the Guard was only in DC as part of an extended political messaging stunt. The shooter is guilty for the attacks/carnage. Donald Trump is responsible for them. This is the collateral damage of Trump abusing his powers as President.
Pirro: "These Guardsmen and all who are here to protect the District are the line that separates a civilized society from a barbaric one."

DOGE was not a money-saving effort. It was an effort to chase down and prove right-wing conspiracy theories. They went after USAID to prove conspiracy theories about foreign aid. Then they went after SSA to, again, pursue conspiracy theories about Dems paying "illegals" to vote. 1/2
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
DOGE 'doesn't exist' with eight months left on its charter
