Communities can be great resources, but they also breed ego‑driven personalities, a cancer that never heals. That's why I'm less drawn to fan clubs.

That's utter bullshit. Everywhere you look, people rush to tell you what you should or shouldn't do, as if their way is the only acceptable one. That's now the norm in every field.
