like there's this absolute fury certain men get at the idea of cis women welcoming trans women into their spaces which is way too deeply rooted to be disinterested.

currently thinking about how much of this is driven by men who are flattered by the idea of women's sport existing because men are just so STRONG and POWERFUL, but apoplectic at that idea that women might want to play amateur sport with other women because men are annoying.

The best one is Lance Armstrong going "well I'm just concerned about fairness in women's sports" when we all know if he actually thought he could get away with cheating by doing it he would've tried to fake a transition.

Like, the biggest issue for fairness in sport is that success is positively correlated with wealth, not because rich people are inherently better but because there are structural barriers to involvement in sports (participating, training, etc) if you are poor.

It's interesting the amount of time given to hypothetical inequality by people who entirely ignore actual inequality and abuse.

As I remember it, chaos theory had been part of the "mainstream" (ie known to non-mathematicians) for a fairly short period when Arcadia premiered. This is a brilliant argument for the value of the arts, and also for STEM (hate the term, but it works here) literacy among the arts community.

Thing that amuses me most about this is that pre-beard Alan Moore looks exactly like pre-beard Roy Wood.

Obviously this is impossible because Alan Moore looks like he's genetically a wizard, it's simply impossible to imagine what he would look like as a schoolboy oh there he is.
