This coming week is special. European DST adjustment is today, the US is next week.

German Consulates around the world add appointments at midnight *in Germany*. Polling right as they are added has the best chance of grabbing one, and midnight in Germany is at a different time this week.

YES! Where do I sign?

Huh. I wonder what they'll talk about.

Your eyes linger on the lush, ample melons, stacked and arranged appealingly. The other adults in the room with you seem equally intrigued, especially for the price: 20 cents per pound.

My inner 16 year old is amused.

Um... I'd prefer to just continue being regular friends, thanks. Thanks for thinking of me? I'm sure you'll find the right customer out there.

I've never been propositioned by a mobile carrier before.

Only the Berlin letter showed up on USPS Informed Delivery this morning, but the Hannover letter also arrived today! Hurray!

I think this is actually everything currently expected. I guess I need to send some more requests.

I denied access, mostly to see what it would do.

Next I need to log into my intuit account, because of course merely having paid for the software is not enough I must also have an account.

Intuit's lobbying is the only reason this bullshit continues every year.

Spidey sense tingling.

We misplaced this camera, a Panasonic DMC-ZS1, several YEARS ago and found it in a box today.

I'm pretty stoked: it has a very good retractable optical zoom lens. A 10 megapixel camera is ok today, it can take good photos.

After a quick charge and setting the date, it works fine.

The Espressif ESP32-S3-BOX-3 is pretty cute, and heywillow.io looks suitable to get started in replacing our Google Home devices.

I guess I'd better order soon before tariffs make them unaffordable.

I already have too many projects though. Need to finish one before starting another.

Past Me set up Google Cloud Alerting for a website which I took down almost two years ago.

Present Me has no recollection of doing this, and had forgotten that Google has an Alerting service.

Someone pulled a big lever at the chocolate factory, it started burning up the alarm wires this morning.

Something about black cats I suppose: this is Grimm, who has also learned to open closed doors by pulling on the handle.

Presumably Venmo has data on how much of a network effect they get from having payment information be Public, drawing in friends and family and acquaintances and randos.

They push hard for Public. It doesn't say whether any past payments were actually public, and puts up an interstitial to confirm.

Why yes, the giant airplane flying low directly over our house at 3am did wake us up. Why do you ask?

I prefer to think of it as a dismembered swan.

Working at Signal looks like fun.

Maybe not the part about having to defend against actual nation-state hacking attempts, but the rest looks like it might be fun.

I met Meredith Whittaker at Google, when she founded and ran M-lab. Mad respect.

I stopped using the Bad Place but haven't deleted the account, didn't want to break old links. But clearly these bots will keep escalating until it is three per hour, and keep going from there.

I guess I'm adding an email filter to send these to /dev/null.

I'm honestly surprised it took this long. bitly's ability to monetize traffic analytics was limited, and the Freemium model only works while the userbase is growing rapidly.

An interstitial to show ads was inevitable.
