I'm admittedly very behind in DW & trying not to pick up too many spoilers, but so far I really quite like Ncuti Gatwa's interpretation.

Eccleston made a point on relaunch night to say publicly not only he hadn't watched the show prior, since casting he'd *deliberately* avoided all knowledge to stop from letting anything but himself imbue the part. A subsequent actor allowing their essence to sprinkle their performance should be NBD.

Yes, it's hard to immerse fully if there's English on screen (even if not sized to see properly), but FFS - how are any of us meant, as adults, to improve our Gaeilge with this?!
