Look as a constitutional law professor I gotta tell you that no college essay should receive anything less than a C. Now let’s talk about the constitutionality of naptime and no I don’t think this is a waste of time when America is just merking civilians overseas and rounding up women and children

The problem isn't whether the essay merited a 0 or a 65, and acting like you're the adult in the room speaking truth to power because you think that a zero isn't /technically/ the exact score she deserves according to the prompt is missing the point so willfully as to be itself transphobic

With respect to Peter whose work I’ve admired for years: this is a very stupid and dangerous line of thinking that we simply cannot indulge right now.

Queer, especially trans, people are under attack by an organized political operation. Do you have our back or not?
the actual merits of the grade are mostly beside the point, but i do think it’s worth thinking about how to insulate yourself a bit from bad faith actors if you’re a professor or TA. this M.O. (on a smaller scale) is common on the right.
This won’t be a popular opinion, but I don’t think the instructor was right here. The assignment said that the goal was for students to demonstrate they completed the readings *and* they could do so by reflecting on, among other things, their personal experiences. www.oudaily.com/news/ou-stat...

The right has an explicit goal of driving all transness from public life. Yes individual trans people can attempt to fly under the radar, but this is desperate survival. At some point we blip onto their screen and it is over. We need to take out their radar and surface to air missiles and funding.

Not digging around an obviously failing and off-topic essay hunting for points to give like a law professor does with final exams is not a first amendment violation.

Former teacher here. In college I wrote a ten page paper (ab the Faerie Queen) and got one note: Too flip 0/40. Try again. I got to. Reread the prompt and gave the professor what they needed to know about my grasp of the material and got a 35/40. This was intentional

remembering my graduate critical analysis of Soldados de Salamanca (my only academic work in Spanish coincidentally) and how the professor did not understand Žižek and how he related to IDEOLOGY. she said it was "confusing". i have never been so offended. as we all know i'm an amazing writer

lmao look at this bitchmade bozo
Always liked Parker, so this nastiness is rather disappointing.

I’ll always defend trans rights as I have all my career. But I also believe in the First Amendment’s protecting people being wrong.

And that’s where my engagement will respectfully end for the day.

It was a bad faith effort to oust a trans instructor. It worked because people are cowards and the religious right always gets an unwarranted benefit of the doubt.

The thing about useful idiots in professional spaces is that the whole game, from the perspective of the fascist, is to constantly game them into taking ”innocuous” positions on any given day’s culture war issue, thus forcing them to perpetually conflict with everything left of the fascists.

What is incredible about this case is that, even in a vacuum, I have no fucking idea what this man thinks the first amendment is other than “I can’t experience disagreement with my free speech”. The frame of debate of free speech has left the mesosphere, we’re debating hypotheticals in zero-G space.
