It’s what I’m leaning towards to. Making them a “modern” bird is fun for a setting about living sapient dinosaurs, but I think Mesozoic birds tend to be overlooked as both animals and as dinosaurs themselves.

Also I’m partial to the design cause it looks like orca Finfin..
