I read recently that green walls are too costly to install and too hard to maintain. But I like them and hope architects keep trying. Saw this one in Melbourne today and it looks reasonably nice doesn’t it? It’s like a small postcard from a forest reminding you to come back and visit sometime.

Good article on AI coding by Chris Loy: chrisloy.dev/post/2025/09....
I want to believe his Quality vs. Velocity diagram (shown below) but I'm guessing many would say the last part of that blue line is non-linear and headed much higher...

I feel like it's only a matter of time before marketing emails (like this one I received today) are saying "rather than" instead of "not just".

That one just made my morning. Now back to the grim parade of bad news.

Is your app really IO bound? "CPU starvation looks like IO to most eyes" For Rails devs but I'm guessing same thoughts are apply to Django dev:

Seems grading is always an issue when using Jupyter notebooks in e-Learning. Such is the case here:

I feel like the window seating of the average plant-lover's bungalow is a better effort at a "connection" with the natural world. Lost of living things, needing attention, playing a part in a localized biome, faint echos of earlier days when we weren't separated from outside by glass and HVAC.

Still a bit puzzled by what "biophilic design" means in a building. The latest in the inbox today features a really beautiful public building in Oregon (no mention of energy performance but let's assume it's good)....but where are manifestations of this design intent? Honest question.

In reading that got directed to artwork by Wojtek Kapustra www.artstation.com/kapucha76 ... his illos remind me of a book I had as kid in the 70s with all these atmospheric paintings of spaceships. Man I wish I could remember the title and get it again.

Have you attempted to use #Jupyter notebooks your STEM e-Learning courses? #JupyterHub is the conventional way to go, but you can also use a serverless approach through services like modal.com ... here are my developing thoughts.

A photo from a promo email from Architectural Record on "Biophilic Art in Interior Design." Exquisite placement of the only living thing in the photo.

I asked an AI service to come up with a logo for KinesinLMS, (the open-source LMS I created for SCL). My prompt: "Abstract logo for a software application named KinesinLMS. Kinesin is a molecular protein, which looks a bit like it has legs." NAILED IT. This stuff is amazing.
