Weltschmerz is my middle name. ;-)

I did! Crisis averted! Soft back, no headache, and even a bit of sleep. :)

Good morning from the east! A decent night's sleep, a soft back, and a narrowly avoided migraine have put me in a good mood today. So I expect some damned guillotine to fall on my neck at some point today. I hope you have a great Thursday! :)

Good morning and happy Thursday Nubian Queen Bee and everyone! There is currently a 20 lb. klutz of a cat between me and my keyboard. I have described this one as "aggressively affectionate, and that's what's happening right now. Have a great and productive Thursday everyone. :)

(And the headaches are a leftover from all the concussions. It is definitely not a spine issue.) Get well soon and get riding before winter. :)

We grow zinnias and sunflowers in our courtyard, not so much for the flowers, but for the goldfinches that they attract. Goldfinches are notoriously shy of humans, but zinnia and sunflower seeds are a powerful draw for them. :)

I went to a chiropractor exactly once. I've broken so many bones that I still set off airport metal detectors. The chiropractor started yanking my spine around, and the sonofabitch re-broke one of my ribs. I never went back.

I was born kind, but I had to learn to be gentle. I am somewhat (cough) intellectually aggressive and rhetorically blunt, but through hard won wisdom, I eventually learned when to lean out and be quiet.

Well, I've seen you. You are pretty sexy. ;-)

Well done Jamie! I've been struggling a bit with back issues and headaches lately, but I know all too well how annoying it is not to be able to walk. Stick to the program and get back on that bike! :)

When I was at university, I had a girlfriend who was very smart, but a lousy writer. I said, what is it you're trying to say? She answered clearly. I said, "Just write that." She looked at me as though I was a magician.

#vss365 It took 15 years before Misty pulled me off the #ash heap of despair after the passing of my late wife. I am a thin-skinned, moody mathematician, but the core of my soul is dedication and loyalty. I'm also really good at worrying.

I'll remind you. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, exhaustion finally trumped insomnia and I was in a mini-coma for a few hours, only to wake up with the twinge indicating an incoming cluster headache. This, this is bad timing. And as for the workout, you're a better man than I am, Gunga Din. ;-)

That's my understanding as well. Tehran looked like Manchester, England before the revolution. Women in miniskirts, men in suits -- they were soooo close. If the shah had just done his job right, Iran would be a prosperous, healthy democracy now.

Maaaannnn, do you know how much it costs to have custom gloves made? Of course I can only afford one shoe. ;-)

Iran was on the very edge of becoming a liberal western democracy before the revolution. The shah was a jackass, no question, but jeez, talk about walking backwards....

Well placed, but there's no point in punishing the French and the Turks for our political problems. ;-)

(But maybe we should add state specific tariffs on red state products. I know it's illegal, but laws are getting fuzzy at the edges anyway.)

We're a 50/50 state, but gerrymandering has hobbled our voices. I kinda want to go throw a bunch of tea in the Albemarle sound. No taxation without representation.

True story. My hope for Afghanistan is that there is a full generation of women who grew up with basic human rights due to the American occupation. If they can make their voices heard, there might eventually be progress. I'm not sanguine, but I am hopeful. Vote with your wallet, vote with your feet.

My beef with Hillary was that somehow she managed to make $250 million in a life of "public service," and she used Democratic party machinery to torpedo Bernie Sanders. But she would have been a vastly better president than the comb over sweet potato.

I told Misty at the very beginning, if you get an interview, you'll get an offer. That's exactly what happened. On the spot. She's that good. Thank you for the good wishes. :)

RE: Misty's job interview:
nuh nuh nuh nuh, nuh nuh, nuh nuh. Can't touch this. I told her, if you get the interview, you get the job. Bam. She dat good. :)

I've had a grand total of 6 total hours of sleep in three nights. I may be hallucinating, or I may be the reincarnation of Lewis Carroll (without that whole pedophilia thing). Despite the lack of physical pain, this is not my best day.

I had to hold my nose when I voted for Hillary, but I did it, because I knew it was the right thing to do. Kamala was not my first choice, but I voted for her enthusiastically. What we're witnessing now is our version of 1933 Germany, only now it is 1938. Kristallnacht. What a shitshow.
