if you imagine the search for a vaccine as the traversal of a vast n-dimensional search space, AI algorithms help to constrain that space giving humans guidance on the optimal places to look for results

(as I understand things - I don't work on vaccine research)

AI has been useful in pharma research and vaccine development, but that's different from the genAI bullshit that silicon valley is trying to ram down everyone's throat

It's also useful in software dev but the candle isn't worth the game imho

truth is it's not AI that sucks; it's capitalism.

for civilians, 'AI' now means 'a more annoying clippy that you can't disable who wants to destroy civilization', and they're not *really* wrong
