IT Swiss Army knife, musician, shitposter.
My comment was rooted in 10-15 year old nostalgia, not expecting any entrant into smartphones. Though Windows Phone was actually quite good compared to Android and iOS of the day.

I would take a flip phone and a Windows Mobile device over the choice between bland iOS and Android devices any day.

I won’t dunk on Yann. He’s a real researcher who understands the limits of the tech and as far as I’m aware didn’t push for LLMs to be this hype bubble. He’s been in the field for decades.

If there’s ever a class action for forcing me into paying more for that garbage when I just needed an Office subscription to update a resume, I’m signing up.

But Kevin, the line has to go up. Without AI to scare CISOs and boards, what will they do?

Seriously, threat actors don’t need AI, orgs can’t even patch their shit lol.

It feels like this has been a bizarre season. It seemed like we were primed for a hyperactive season but instead just got weird storms. Fujiwhara effect off the east coast without landfall and lots of rapid intensification. 🤷‍♂️

So, I’m down for the enemy of my enemy is my friend when faced with fascism… but do you guys suddenly support single payer now? Or are fine stabilizing the ACA? Cause IIRC yall were Republican strategists…

What even is an AI browser? How does it differ from Edge or Chrome getting Copilot or Gemini features I didn’t want? Do words even mean anything?

Right. I get his reasoning, and I’m not saying he should go to jail. But presumably he has to run the trail as it exists in the moment and he’s subject to the same laws as all other park visitors. IIRC from coverage of this when it happened, he was pretty unrepentant at the time.

He hasn’t been charged repeatedly. He was charged once, with a misdemeanor. He was found guilty, but has yet to be sentenced. This is all in the article.

There isn’t wasted money here. NPS marked the trail as closed and because of how high profile this attempt was they are using it to deter additional shortcutting that causes real trail management issues. I supported this prosecution when it was announced and I support it now.
