interestingly you can see in the PS2 version this guy is still visible from the opposite side of the courtyard, lit by the green lantern nearby. Here that lantern is even closer but casts absolutely no light on him. And even with the settings maxed out this is how he looks when I arrive

I will say one massive improvement this level has over the original is the grenade guy in this building doesn't kill himself before you can even see him. I was playing the PS2 version earlier and nearly every time I looked inside there was just a smoking crater where he should be

also if you stand at this doorway for a few seconds you'll get sniped to death by a guy with a shotgun hiding behind that archway.

oh also every gun in this level has the same amount of zoom-in for some reason, so you can't even really scope things out from a safe distance. When I went to PS2 timesplitters it actually startled me because the m16 zooms WAY harder

that guy's not the real issue though, neither are the 2 guys ready to ambush me near that corner. The real issue is once you get close enough to see this guy past all the fog and the dim lighting, this guy jumps out with a shotgun and continuously fires with pinpoint accuracy. With a shotgun.

here's default FOV and UI settings, I'm pointing my gun directly at an enemy and I can't see them through my crosshair. Sometimes, but not always, this enemy notices me from this distance and opens fire before I can see them through the fog and my own crosshair

I've got some issues with timesplitters rewind. here's some comparisons between the original timesplitters 1 and rewind, original on the left. The visual flair makes a lot of enemies near impossible to see before they start firing, and some of them don't even make bullet trails when they fire
