polyships can be a mix of cross-house and in-house characters (ex. edelgard/lysithea/hilda), with the expectation that the cross-house interactions will receive more focus in the work! :)

it reminds me of how I love anachronisms that immerse one in the world not by creating something new but putting a twist on something real that the reader likely has emotions/feelings toward. best example of this is when historical shows include modern songs remixed to fit the period's musical style
