Well thank you, I really appreciate that! I’m sorry to learn that last month was such a trial for you.

(To be clear: I’m already doing a lot of this, but I’m starting to go broke and I’m struggling to find a publisher for the first of what was to have been a series of books, and at some point I’ll have to stop because I don’t want my family to lose our house)

This is not great news, but the article suggests the study only looked at young people. I’m fairly sure that if you looked at any age group, you’d find they underestimate their exposure to misinformation and overestimate their ability to detect it.

I could focus on making everything I know about how to prevent burnout from happening — and how to recover from it if it has already happened — available, engaging accessible, and in the public domain.

Hmm, you might be right. It’s been a long time since I ran the class where I discussed this study.

This reminds me of the 2003 study which the international media reported as showing that using two big monitors instead of one small one improved productivity by up to 44%. The study itself showed less than 10% improvement (including practice effects) on the most app-switchy tasks.

3: #Recovember
This was the first time I've tried to do anything like this. Conceive and run a month-long psychological wellbeing awareness initiative? On my own? Across 5 social media platforms? It wasn't perfect, but for a first attempt, I think it went well.

2: Opportunities to talk about burnout.
This is a topic on which I have a lot to say. November gave me many opportunities to share my thoughts with others. Probably the biggest highlight was appearing on this episode of the ABC Radio National show This Working Life.

1: Experiences of Burnout study findings.
This study revealed 13 indicators of burnout that usually occur early. I'm grateful to all who participated, and I'm so glad the results are so promising (they might not have been)! I summarise the findings in my newsletter.

I’m sure that’s true. People don’t realise how slowly the symptoms can fade — there’s so little research on post-burnout!
I just wish I had more data (and also that I still had a job that paid me to do research).

Snyder and colleagues argued that one way to create feelings of hope in our lives is to identify something in our lives we would like to see improved, refine this into a goal, and to work towards accomplishing that goal. 2/2
