My November in #boardgames was great! Thanks to Spielwiesn and SpielViel I got to try so many new (to me) games, most of which I enjoyed. And of course it's even better to play great games with great friends! @bengala.bsky.social @pacthamaniac.bsky.social @sibizkit.bsky.social 🤗

Today we travelled to Meiji period #Yokohama, traded goods, discovered technology, and had fun blocking each other's paths. 😉 This game has quite a learning curve but when everything clicks it's so satisfying!

#CritterKitchen is adorable, quick to teach, and looks delicious. So exciting to race for the best ingredients and cook dishes! I wish there had been more challenge meal cards, but otherwise it looks like there is plenty of variety in the box. Can't wait to play again! 😍

The new D&D variant of #Horrified is a lot of fun! We battled the Beholder and the Displacer Beast & saved lots of civilians! ✌️

A movie or TV show that takes place where you're from.

Nothing else like it on German TV. Dark humour, great acting, no artificial High German. Music & cinematography remind of Breaking Bad. The plot: a Bavarian village mayor who snorts cocaine and commits crimes to stay in power. I love it.

Favourite game of the day: #TheARTProject, a cooperative game about collecting clues and fighting bad guys to recover stolen art. Love the theme, love the artwork, components are great, and gameplay was so much fun. 😍 I forgot to take a picture during the game because I was so immersed. 😅

#Dorfromantik! It's only been ages, and I finally got to play it for the first time. Very enjoyable, even for me who doesn't usually like tile laying. But it's so quick to play, and I like that you try to beat your own highscore and discover more material in the box.

#WeReSinking looks awesome and sounds awesome but felt too chaotic. The ship is sinking, a monster is attacking, and you can basically be nice and help, or be a dick and grab loot. Action selection is secret, and some tasks can only be done with a specific amount of crew having picked that action.

#TheHobbitThereAndBackAgain is a roll and write that comes with a book of different scenarios for each player. I like the material, but it's one of those games where players don't get equal turns - and the starting player of each round gets an extra die. Our scoring reflected that imbalance.

#Aquatica is so pretty! And I love the mechanism of sliding cards into your board and all the combo potential! The resource rules are a bit confusing though, and there is downtime potential if you play with people who calculate their entire turn before they make a decision.

I was really excited to try #ThunderRoadVendetta. I love Heat and I thought this one was like that only with destruction. It's... more like destruction. I didn't really enjoy it, it felt too long to look past the randomness of dice & tiles. Great components and tons of expansions in the box though.

Yesterday I was at a #boardgames party where I played games all day! 🤩 Some of them were Spielwiesn loans to the hosting boardgame club, and I really appreciated the opportunity to try games I had missed at the fair.

I enjoyed a lot of the games I played at #Spielwiesn but several of them were sold out or too expensive, so those have to wait. For now, I got some bargains and am very excited to try them!

And last but not least I played my first pen & paper roleplaying game today: #MyLittlePonyTailsOfEquestria! The game master was fantastic, the way he told the story was really engaging, and I appreciated that the game was focused on friendship and support instead of yet another dungeon crawl. Fun!

#Fangs is a fun game for a bigger playgroup. The premise is humans vs. vampires vs. werewolves, you get to play cards to find out who everyone is, and you can fight other players to deal them damage. Easy to teach, too!

#13Leaves was taught to us at the publisher's booth. You try to empty your hand in the evillest way possible (i.e. preventing others from being able to play the game). Basically everyone at the table decided that everyone else at the table was a dick. 😂

This morning we tried #EndeavorDeepSea. I've played Age of Sail, and while I am a fan of the historical period & the historical modules were interesting, the game had its faults. Deep Sea improves on a lot of them, first and foremost a coop mode.

Day 2 of #Spielwiesn is over, and I wish I could go again tomorrow! I didn't play as many games as yesterday but instead I met my dear "pocket friends"! 🥰 Thanks for the fantastic time @bengala.bsky.social @pacthamaniac.bsky.social @sibizkit.bsky.social Anja & Julian! 🤗

#Nassau probably has the coolest theme of the Stefan Feld games. Pirates! Ships! Rum! And pirate pets! Component quality is a bit meh, but there is a lot in this box. We didn't have time to try this properly though, so I definitely want to take another look at it!

I love #Alchemists, but it's a brain burner. The kids version #LittleAlchemists is for people who love brewing potions but not the worker placement & deduction of the original. Cute artwork, app works great, and it's quick to teach and play. Best part: the box is full of expansions to discover!
November 8, 2025 at 7:41 PM
#LeviathanWilds is basically Shadow of the Colossus as a board game, tiny persons climbing titans, destroying crystals. You have decks of cards special to your character & class, gameplay feels smooth, interesting & fun. Pretty artwork too! 👍 This is what I expected from Slay the Spire & didn't get.

It only took me ages but I finally played #SkyTeam! And it's great, the tension is so good. Love the theme too - landing planes most likely hasn't been done before. And there seems to be a lot to discover in the box to keep you busy once you know the basics. 👍

#Charcuterie has a delicious theme and nice components. Gameplay is pretty simple, nice for people who don't play much, and it's really fun to arrange all the components at the end! But I found it way too expensive for what it is.
