Sums up UK cycling infrastructure in one picture. Painted cycle ‘lane’ unusable so no way to reach the ASL, which is blocked by a car anyway 🤷‍♂️

Incredibly slippy this morning on the Hayes. I wonder what caused this danger? And how could I be covered in oil after I'd picked myself up off the floor? 🤔🤷

Example of the difference between public & private liability risk assessment.
Ask yourself: for safety reasons, is lighting essential on a walking (and cycling) route to & from a popular destination?

I always wonder what sort of person just casually throws litter on the floor. How do they justify it in their heads?

"[encourage] lower levels of vehicle ownership, freeing up road space for those who need it most."

This is what the civic centre looks like, and will continue to look like under these plans:

My days of faffing around with snare drum mic stands are DONE 🙌

Yes yes, DJ Dom Whiting bringing some much needed bike-powered drum & bass to the drivers of Cardiff

So sick of this bullshit. At 20mph there are drivers half a mile away being prioritised over these people

I always wondered how much I could trust drivers to obey these road markings. Driver saw me and ignored me. Another example of how paint ≠ infrastructure

I can confirm. Drivers' law-breaking is now so prolific that the police have stopped taking action, making my journeys that bit more dangerous

So @cardiffcouncil.bsky.social closed the cycleway for a week and then these freshly painted zig-zags have appeared. Are they really necessary?

At least it's not a light-controlled crossing like on Wood St. 😂 (cc. @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social)

Highway code, rule H2: At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning

Back in the olden days we were lucky to get a handful of people at our meetings. Big congrats to @cardiffcyclecity.bsky.social for a packed-out award ceremony last night, presented by Mark Drakeford and @waterslee.bsky.social

Apologies for crashing your conversation but we rode this route in 2017 on our honeymoon, but stuck to the coast. Breezed past a long line of cars queueing to get into the town, and couldn’t believe all the space gifted to parking. Photo at Pleasure Point Park

Cycle/mobility/scooter/skater lanes with a floating bus stop that's been there for at least 20 years without the sky falling in.

Bonus points for motor-traffic-specific sign, fallen over, blocking half the lane 🤷

Perfectly normal responses to a reasonable complaint (on the hellsite) about the lengthy pedestrian waiting time at a busy set of lights.

I guess some people are still subservient to their motoring superiors, probably bowing as they scuttle across after gratefully waiting a mere half an hour 🤷
