Retrieval practice is of course a powerful strategy to support learning and we should be using it, however, we need to understand when it can/should be used to be effective and also efficient.

As with any experiment, if you variables, you get a change. On the testing effect, if you change the comparison control condition you change the effect size 👇 to the point where it becomes non significant compared to other elaborative strategies.
