The Rowe lab is recruiting a #PlantScience PhD student for 2025! You'll use our new ABACUS FRET biosensors to map the leaf #AbscisicAcid accumulations at low humidity in Arabidopsis, wheat and rice to understand how ABA regulates stomatal dynamics. #PhDposition

1/4 Delighted to share our latest preprint "Future heatwave conditions inhibit CO2-induced stomatal closure in wheat". We found that high CO2, high VPD heatwave treatment prevents stomatal responses to light, super-elevated CO2 and nitrogen fertiliser application. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Some nicely curated data on how crop yields are impacted by climate change. Something very useful to have on hand in my field of research
maxroser.bsky.social
My colleague Hannah Ritchie has published an excellent three-part series on the impact of climate change on agriculture.

In part 1 she shows that yields have increased dramatically in recent decades, but some crops would have improved more without climate change.

Crop yields have increased dramatically in recent decades, but crops like maize would have improved more without climate change
Climate change has slowed the productivity of key crops such as maize and soybeans, but might have had small positive impacts on wheat.
