🇽🇰 Go “Kosova Cyber Team”! This week a cybersecurity team from 🇽🇰 led by University of Prishtina Professor Dr. Blerim Rexha is in Warsaw to take part in the European Cybersecurity Championship. I visited w/ the team, expressed pride in all the young men and women competing & wished them great success!

There are unique connections in music between #Kosova and #Poland, but we must deepen them further—with more of our students at UMFC and at the Music Academies of 🇵🇱, more exchanges between professors and artists, and more musical events from 🇵🇱 in 🇽🇰 and from 🇽🇰 in 🇵🇱. 🇽🇰🎹🎓🇵🇱 This week I had the great pleasure of meeting the Rector of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Dr. Tomasz Strahl. UMFC has a 215-year history, and its founding coincides with the birth of the Romantic composer and pianist Fryderyk Chopin, the national icon of Poland and of world music. 1/

last night the dignified Mrs. Penderecka emphasized the same with superlatives during our meeting in Warsaw. I was fortunate to meet and speak with Mrs. Penderecka at one of her emblematic festivals at the Royal Łazienki Museum. /5

Their special academic and professional connection was also a personal one, as Mengjiqi became close to the family, to Penderecki himself and his wife, the great promoter of classical music, Elżbieta Penderecka. Professor Mengjiqi shared this with me during our meeting in Prishtina, and…/4

was a distinguished and promising student of renowned Polish and global composer Krzysztof Penderecki. The Academy of Music in Kraków that today bears Penderecki’s name was where Mengjiqi studied for his master’s degree under Penderecki’s supervision and earlier as a student of Zbigniew Bujarski. 3/
