from george floyd to palestine campus protests, younger generations did their job by your definition and got soundly shafted by the establishment and their older peers and forebearers alike. one way or another, the gap has to be bridged.

how do we proceed if no one will admit the gap is there?

i’m begging you to take the opportunity to sit with the BROAD criticism of your generation and maybe try and understand where it comes from, and why others may feel that way, instead of immediately lashing out and centring yourself as an individual

it’s like the candyman: be careful invoking their name lest one appear behind you and start self-mythologizing

They sent the troops when the youth protested for George Floyd and mocked the youth and sent the cops for occupy.

Wait, I’m sensing a pattern…

I want everybody born after the year 2000 to know that I (and fellow diaspora Palestinians) have nothing to do with this GenX. We may look and talk like them because we grew up in the West, but we are nothing like them. You can absolutely hate them more than boomers...because they are indeed worse

Completely wrong. The last two years saw a huge swell in student-led activism across American campuses but conservative and liberal institutions labeled these brave protesters- many of whom are Jewish- as antisemites for protesting the US-backed genocide of Palestinians by Israel.

that feels more like a statement about No Kings than about young people's proclivity for activism

sorry, when the youth protested in 2020 and 2024, the liberals called in the national guard and called them terrorists. no one's joining your shitty irl fedpost with cringe signs

One of the core tenets both political parties agree on is that young people must be savagely brutalized by probably over funded police if they ever dare to express disapproval of the government as a whole instead of just whatever fossilized asshole is president

Kids would like to attend protests with actual goals and actionable demands.

Like all those Palestinian sit-ins their liberal parents ordered the police to brutalize and destroy

The last big student-run movement, the Democrats demonized and called antisemites and had the cops beat the shit out of them and the universities harass and expel them

And in 2020, the Democrats responded to the George Floyd protests by reaffirming their love of cops and funding for cops
