Yep. I'm starting to knock back a lot of promising projects because I won't be able to do the students service AND remain an active researcher that would appeal to these students.

Don't they all. 🙄 PhD completions are being included in our research allocations now, which is tough on HASS because most of our students are PT b/c scholarships are given out according to "flagship priorities" that are decidedly un-HASS, which means we have lower completion rates but lots of sups.

This is in Australia and applied to the whole university regardless of discipline, but I am humanities.

Teaching if you are solely engaged in supervision activities, both if you are also collaborating with the student and co-publishing. We recently had this battle and lost - it was 50/50 but is now counted entirely as research.
