Can’t see it happening. The govt is out-flubbing Labour on a daily basis. If the next election is to be a flubathon, then the govt is certain to lose

They’re clearly not serious about this:

“The changes are now out for consultation, which remains open until 20 February, with the resulting legislation expected to be introduced mid-next year and passed in 2027.”

2027? They’re dreaming. They wont even be in govt.

Oldest daughter took grandchildren to Paris a couple of months ago. The Rodin sculpture “The Thinker” was the one thing grandson (12) wanted to see in Paris.

Pretty sure it was originally Paul Keating who used this expression, in the Aus parliament, but it is so good it has been coopted many times to describe spineless pollies

I read it back in the 70’s, and enjoyed it so much I read all Newby’s other books as well. In his Hindu Kush book, his account of meeting Alfred Thesiger lead me to reading Thesiger also - worth hunting out if you are interested in the travel writing of eccentric Englishmen

Haven’t come across Coldwater but I have just read up on it so I’ll give it a try. Currently watching Sneaky Pete - near the end of S2. I have really enjoyed it!
