SHE GOT THE JOB! Make sure you show Lisa some love y'all!

I am very behind on the They got a job posts but LISA went through the cohort, she truly went above and beyond, and is now officially a backend apprentice at LinkedIn! 👏👏👏

She did it y'all! 🥹

In January, I posted, "I want 2025 to be my year of more meaningful leadership conversations!

If you are a director or above and are open to a conversation, I'd love to speak with you."

Which led to over 50 conversations!
I learned SO MUCH and would love to do it again!

HE GOT THE JOB Y'ALL!!! Show Hadi some love y'all! He deserves it!

Went through the DSD cohort, put in work, he learned SO MUCH!

I was just saying to myself that I have a backlog of they got the job posts I have to make and Hadi was on that list then I saw this! 🎉
LinkedIn post from Hadi Kassamali showing that he just landed a job as a junior software developer.

I didn't do a good job of keeping up with posting during #CYC25. 😜 The sign of a good time. But I'll make up for that now.

This very moment, knowing how tech and education could make such an impact, THIS is why I wanted to do this conference. This right here has made all the stress and sleepless nights 1000% worth it.

Thank you.🙏❤️

If you went to CYC in person or even hung out virtually, YOU truly helped make this happen.

To all of the speakers, YOU made this happen. Thank you. Thank you. THAAAANK YOU.

This represents a SIGNIFICANT increase from last year's donations of $5,098.85, which were distributed to only two charities instead of three.

Waiting on one final confirmation from FCC so I can send the last of the funds to them for the donation that will go to them.
dthompsondev.bsky.social
Total ticket sales, tshirts and 100% of all the book sales at CYC AFTER sales tax is $27,588.64.

Stripe processing fees were $4,486.90.
This left us with a grand total of $23,101.74.

Split three ways, this equaled $7,700.58 each!
dthompsondev.bsky.social
As you know with @commityourcode.bsky.social I like to be 100% transparent with EVERYTHING.

For #CYC25, A full financial post-mortem is coming soon, but we are supporting three charities this year instead of 2!

St. Jude Children's Hospital
Operation Kindness
and FreeCodeCamp

Long post
Donation to operation kindness for $7.700.58 Donation to St. Jude for $7.700.58

I think I MIGHT have a brand new headshot to use for the socials that was taken at the FREE headshot station at The @commityourcode.bsky.social Conference wearing my very classy @thisdotlabs.bsky.social pin of course. Always representing the DOT!

Thoughts? 🤔

Commit Your Code 2025 was amazing. I set 2 goals after CYC 2024: to speak at the conference in 2025 and to talk to more people than I did last year. Mission accomplished!

Huge thanks to @dthompsondev.bsky.social, all the volunteers, all the sponsors, and the amazing community.

"some scars I'm proud of, others I try to hide with facial hair."

This knowledge!=wisdom framing from @dthompsondev.bsky.social is echoing notes I took from @snowded.bsky.social earlier this year linking explicit knowledge to tacit knowledge through narrative

The #CYC conference keynote was a fantastic kickoff w/ @dthompsondev.bsky.social and Matt McDole.

It was fascinating to learn about using AI to create better work environments for employees. And Yum's approach to onboarding engineers w/ AI.

The @commityourcode.bsky.social Pickleball event for Day[0] was a HUGE SUCCESS!

We even had a pickleball pro guiding newer players with a group lesson! I guess you could say it was a... Smashing success 😂 pun absolutely intended!

Also this shirt by Jake is actually amazing 😂😂😂
KA large group of people posing together on an indoor pickleball court, holding paddles and smiling at the camera. The group is diverse, with men and women of different ages standing in several rows. The bright facility has blue and yellow walls, tall white pillars, and high ceilings with overhead lights." A group of people lined up side by side on an indoor pickleball court, holding paddles and waiting for their turn to play. The facility has bright blue walls with large yellow accents, tall white pillars, and high ceilings with overhead lights. Some people are playing on nearby courts in the background. Danny with Jake and his shirt explained in the next photo Close-up of a novelty black T-shirt with the word 'PickleBall' at the top in blue letters. The shirt features two illustrated faces of men looking surprised at a large blue pickleball in the center. The ball has pink text that reads, 'I WENT TO CYC & HAD A BALL.' Below, the tagline says, 'If you can code a pickleball… you can pickleball a code.'

Right now you can't but that will change. This is me testing the idea and getting feedback from real people to see if I need to make any small changes before I post it online for people to get their own deck. So maybe in a few weeks?
