The smoke from the combustible leaves organic pattern on the bisque. You can then polish with bee wax.

Next time I do it I’ll try to record a more detailed video, but in summary: layer of sawdust, sprinkle iron oxide/ coarse salt mix on top, add bisque-fired ware (fired between 950 centigrade), sprinkle copper carbonate/ salt mix on top, layer with straw and then with kindling on top, set alight.

I’m not a massive fan of the glazing. If I screwed up a piece, it’s normally because I’ve done a rubbish job at glazing it. So, I’m determined to improve and have been experimenting with different glazing effects. This one actually turned out how I was hoping #pottery #art #ceramics
