I keep forgetting how wonderful stew is

Yea this flood of "we were always just as bad" rhetoric pisses me off

Yes our history is full of bad shit but over time you could see the trend of making things better as we became more socially aware, smartass

I could see adding in some mechanics like that for sure

I also think you could make reputation an important thing to manage as I can only imagine that in those times especially where any kind of existing infrastructure was closely linked, your reputation and actions would be incredibly impactful

paging @xavierck.com for thoughts since he's really good at these dumb little joke ideas but actually thinking about meaningful engagement mechanics
November 28, 2025 at 7:45 PM
Perhaps to continue the joke, if you receive a bad complaint, you could have a timed grace period to rectify it and have the complaint erased. failing that, perhaps some underhanded business techniques to threaten/coerce suppliers or purchasers (and obviously the reverse)

Lets expand on this with some mechanics

Obviously you have the kind of simulator flow of many games today, but in the ancient era we could work this out to be travelling to different suppliers in the city, local quarries, and such, engaging in direct deals and crisis mitigation when problems arise

Rather, replace mechanized with living
