I think we start to start normalizing attitudinally and verbally savage, but physically nonviolent, intolerance toward disinformation and idiocy.

They are pretty ignorant, then, about this disease and how it spreads. The U.S. perception of it in the 1980s has very little to do with its prevalence and transmission globally. Fighting infectious disease and empowering women (and marginalized communities) is good for all humanity.
