Child victims of trafficking need the chance to rest, play, reflect, and hope for the future.

Our annual residential trips can be a lifeline.

One young person said:

‘I feel like I have found myself again.’

Help us fund them if you can

🌳💜Our residentials provide a vital space for young victims of trafficking to heal, connect, and grow in confidence.

Experiences build trust, community, and emotional resilience but they rely on generous funding.

New report by @HelenBamber, @ATLEU_UK & @ECPATUK

- just 4% of trafficking survivors got permission to stay in the UK for their recovery/to assist the police in 2024
- of 699 confirmed child victims, less than 5 received temporary permission to stay as victims
helenbamber.bsky.social
🚨 Thousands of trafficking survivors continue to be denied permission to stay in the UK despite their critical need for safety and support — a new report by @helenbamber.bsky.social, ATLEU & @ecpatuk.bsky.social reveals.

Instead survivors are left in fear and at risk of further exploitation. 🧵1/3

We welcome the proposed repeal of key sections of the Illegal Migration Act 2023 in the new Borders Bill, yet we remain concerned for children from retained laws and proposals on new offences which may see children further criminalised.

Without these changes, the report warns that trafficked children face heightened risks of re-exploitation and instability. The lack of long-term support undermines their recovery, leaving them vulnerable to further harm.

ecpatuk.bsky.social
The report calls on the urgent repeal of damaging provisions in the Nationality and Borders Act 2022 and the Illegal Migration Act 2023, which rolled back children’s rights and hinder the protection of trafficked children.
ecpatuk.bsky.social
We also urge the UK Government to invest in children’s services and long-term prevention with a cross-departmental and UK-wide Child Exploitation Strategy to combat this terrible criminal abuse of children.
ecpatuk.bsky.social
The report calls for the UK Home Office to provide confirmed child victims of trafficking with a minimum five-year grant of immigration leave and a clear route to settlement, ensuring compliance with international obligations and prioritising children’s best interests.
ecpatuk.bsky.social
Despite a 138% rise in potential child trafficking cases over five years, critical legal and policy gaps persist.
