I can hardly believe I turned down a chocolate orange stout for this, but who can resist a ruby mild? Glad I made this choice; excellent beer. Abbeydale Ruby Mild in the Angel, Manchester.

Some great dark ales at this time of the year. Yesterday, Macclesfield's lovely Castle provided this stunner. A coffee milk stout from Black Iris brewery.

Manchester Northern Quarter wander today. Lovely White Rat in the traditional Hare & Hounds, superb milk stout at Jack in the Box & excellent stout at the Angel. A good day.

Can I just say that Dusseldorf is one of my favourite beer cities? The top fermented altbier served from wooden barrels is wonderful. Schumacher Alt, Schlussel and of course, Uerige.
