My first dog was always described as “very good” by the vet. It wasn’t until she passed and I got another dog that I realized “very good” meant stoic and disinterested. With my third dog they’re quite honest and describe her as a “very friendly rodeo.”

Right there with you. My third thanksgiving without my dad and the holidays are a different animal entirely. I trudged through them the first two years, angrily. This year I’ve let myself off the hook and have chosen to ignore them. You just have to figure out what hurts the least.

I gave up on holidays but the rest of my family continue to celebrate. I feel like a dick sometimes but the “everyone grieves differently” thing is the permission I’ve given myself to sit them out.

Bro. I am one of them. I can cook jasmine rice fine. But white rice, never works. It also tastes like shit so I’m okay with it.
