You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

We’re entering a new era of childhood mortality & disability, & almost no one will care bc they’ll just get used to “the new normal” within a few years. They’ll ignore the harm.

How do I know? Because that’s exactly how it went w/COVID, which is the 2nd largest threat to childhood health rn.
Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

It's like "being back in Covid times" after 170 pupils were off sick on 1 day alone. Numbers are expected to rise.

Dr Joanne McClean, described the current situation as an "epidemic".

thank goodness they “ended the pandemic” for the economy (and Delta Airlines). looks like that turned out well and had no major negative impacts on our political, social, or economic systems.

The United States is poised to lose its measles-free status next year. If that happens, the country will enter an era in which outbreaks are common again. More children would be hospitalized because of this preventable disease. Some would lose their hearing. Some would die.

Me, counselling someone.

We are going to have to get better at counselling young people with late stage cancer. We are going to see a lot more of this, as people don’t realise they are at risk, and to take symptoms seriously.

Sometimes diagnoses will be missed because we don’t expect them.

This has been known for years, and disabled people had already been making the connection long before the government under Biden completely gave up trying to prevent covid infections.
Immunological dysfunction and mast cell activation syndrome in long COVID

Every covid infection is a round of Russian roulette where one of the many possible sequelae is suddenly finding yourself unable to eat basically anything in your home.

One of the sequelae to covid is MCAS, and one of the big symptoms of that is acquiring exciting new allergic reactions to random things.

You can suddenly behave allergic to deodorant, soap, wheat, chocolate, garlic, milk, cheese (and anything what contains histamines, such as leftovers), etc.

“I don’t want MY taxes supporting disabled people! Let them fend for themselves!”

Many can’t. They can’t work, they can’t get out of bed, they’re completely dependent on caregivers for survival.

Are you saying it’s ok to let them die? Rather than provide social supports?
