Wednesdays were invented in 1756 by a Yorkshire vicar Rev. George Arbuthnott-Grimes in order to expand the week and solve the whole "On the seventh day He rested," conundrum. Being an amateur antiquarian, Arbuthnott-Grimes hoped that the 'Odin's Day' idea would throw everyone off the scent.
