I think he’s trying to make himself look like the “nice helpful president” so he can later claim Mamdani squandered it & attempt to brand the entire Dem party with it.

Tho honestly, if ppl listen closely to what Trump says here he’s being “charming” like VP Harris described *while* Mamdani is in the room but clearly attempting to set the mayor of NYC up as a figurehead for the Democratic Party & pretending he’s going to “help” & that “it could go either way.”
