VS piracy? No of course it's not better, and I do not shame those who go that route.

But versus subscription you-will-never-own options that plague the industry I think it's a pretty serious improvement.

Gonna throw props to Ableton for adding rent-to-own as a payment model for Live.

Even if it's only for Suite, imo it still makes Live much more accessible. Still hoping to see even more audio software offer the option.

I used FL Studio for years, but fell hard for Ableton. That said, I often use Reaper, Logic, or Caustic (android). Played around in Reason, in MilkyTracker, even LMMS.

All have their pros and cons, and many are best suited to different production styles, and I really love the diversity!

I have an upcoming panel at a con largely about the songwriting process and two key points are "your DAW doesn't matter" but more importantly "use tools that are comfortable and creative to *you*".

I'm not surprised that Vercel is supporting genocide.

I *am* however pleasantly surprised watching the backlash within the tech sector. Maybe I'm jaded by the culture, but seeing so many jump up and say "here's how to get your app off Vercel" and "we've taken our entire stack elsewhere" just like 🤯
