I’m an ER doctor, and I love books, animals, social justice, bodily autonomy, and LGBTQIA2 rights. My family too, of course, but it depends on how many children are currently screaming.

There is not one marginalized, racialized, or oppressed group whose oppression or destruction is an acceptable cost for saving "democracy." Not one.

If saving democracy requires leaving marginalized people behind, that's not a democracy worth saving.

Either we all get saved or none of us do.

My grandpa John M. Perkins (94) is a civil rights icon; I routinely meet people from all over, who’ve heard or read one of his many lectures or books. Whenever he mentions the eldest son of his eldest son, he brags about my intellect—he knows I get it from him.

He’s where I get my confidence from 🖤

Two things that shouldn’t be for profit: prisons and healthcare, because the incentive for harm is too great.

Keep ’em sick.
Keep ’em locked up.

94% of teachers have had to dip into their own pockets to buy school supplies. An estimated 1 in 6 have second jobs during the school year to make ends meet.

The average Wall Street employee got a record $244,700 bonus last year.

Something has gone terribly wrong.

National Parks are more than scenic views, they’re a promise to future generations to protect truth, history, & nature. Now, the Administration is pressuring the Park Service to scrub references to slavery & the Black experience.

Yeah, that’s a *pretty* weird answer to the question that was asked.

John Lewis walked, bled, and lived for justice.

Five years since his passing, we honor him the only way we know how:

By refusing to stay silent and getting in more Good Trouble.

Congrats to Lisa Murkowski on voting for a bill that she herself admitted was not ready in hopes that the House would change it. Now it’ll become law. She had the power to stop it, and instead chose to become complicit. That’s her legacy.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

California’s #1 import is oil, much of it from Iraq. To get it, ships pass through the Strait of Hormuz, controlled by Iran.

California is the 4th largest economy in the world and pays $90 billion more in federal taxes than it gets back, to subsidize red states.

Have a nice day
