Building a decentralized publishing network with built-in collaboration and trust @seed.hyper.media
This feels like disinformation to me. Bluesky uses did:plc which is highly centralized

I’d love to be proven wrong, because the world desperately needs a decentralized identity system

I’m really hoping that Bluesky sees the light and allows users to actually own their keys

When a platform for social engagement grows large enough, the identity used on that platform becomes a standard for global communication.

Telephone network gave us phone numbers.
Internet v1 gave us email addresses.
Bluesky (AT Protocol) gives Decentralized Identities (DID)

This post by @dustyweb.bsky.social et al is an absolute banger

It has been a major inspiration for our implementation of "web of trust" in @seed.hyper.media

Although, there is a slight mis-representation of Zooko's triangle. I should write about this...

We built a decentralized publishing app with a UX that is so good, its not immediately obvious that our server is optional.

Do we add friction to the UI that helps users realize this? Or should we address this in our communication/marketing strategy?

The annoying part is that bsky is almost decentralized.. let me add other servers from the app, and let’s move away from did:plc

The ongoing misunderstanding about Bluesky's architecture allowing for decentralization meaning it is unstoppable has me thinking a lot about mutualism.

Unstoppability depends on mutual aid
If you want a system to be censorship resistant, it means that it needs to be able to route around attempts to silence you. For that to happen you need others to help relay your requests and data, or

Yes, Bluesky is decentralized

As long as you ignore all the centralization!
Could someone please explain to me whether Bluesky is decentralized? Maybe send me some blogposts. Thanks!

We're lucky to have such great foundations as IPFS+libp2p! This greatly accelerated the development of our decentralized publishing system
Seed Hypermedia builds upon the powerful foundations of @ipfs.tech for immutable data storage and auto-archiving

And of course @libp2p.bsky.social powers our networking to enable direct publishing between users on the network (as well as servers)

I fucking love @atproto.com because it is mostly decentralized

Today I’m thinking about how to integrate it into the (unstable) decentralized network at the heart of our publishing product
April 5, 2025 at 11:43 AM
Exciting to see growth in ATproto and I’m sorry if this comes off as rude…

How is this “unbannable”? It is centralized just like bluesky, and it’s not open source(??) Apps are only distributed with Apple and Google, not yet globally released

Seems easy to ban. Already banned, if you are in Europe

Huge thanks to everyone who's supported us as we build this unbannable TikTok!

There's still so much more we want to build— your support makes it possible.

You all are the best 🥰

I'll be first to admit that the @seed.hyper.media protocol is poorly formalized and documented

Although we'd love to improve docs and stability of the Hypermedia protocol, this has been a strategic choice

Our focus is on building a great product that everyone can use, and the protocol will follow!

The web community needs to renew our focus on building decentralized trust, community preservation, and accessibility of publishing for non-technical people

This is why I love working on @seed.hyper.media every day

Our product is open in every way, and you are all invited to join the cause!

Tired of soulless AI chatbots? So are we. That’s why we’re redefining conversations with ethically sourced responses, free-range training data, and fair wages. No scripts, no artificial sympathy—just authentic, thoughtful interactions. Try talking to something different.

relieving and gratifying to see this ship in all three engines after kicking off the effort years ago.

@igalia.com stepped into an area new to them and did an incredible job getting all the parties aligned and keeping things moving amidst major differences, and sticking it out until the very end.

Building a startup is like piloting a plane with no landing gear and insufficient fuel.

So it’s always fun when a passenger (user) climbs into the cockpit and starts telling us that our standard operating procedures and flight controls are all wrong.

hey bsky.

I would be happy to move here from the bird app

but I want to see content from both networks

and I want to post in both networks

should I build a client that supports both bsky and bird app?
April 28, 2023 at 11:43 PM
Is there a way to cross-post between here and Twitter?

Is there a way to sync contacts?

How about a client that allows us to consume twitter content?

We need bridges to the legacy social ecosystem!
