Mondays at this point in the term can be a bit rough, but being given a handmade coaster by a student was definitely a bright spot today.

Lovely evening at the Aberdeen Law Project’s annual lecture. Was great to hear Baroness Smith of Cluny speak about the rule of law and her own path in the legal profession, and to learn more about the important access to justice work Aberdeen law students are doing when they’re not in the classroom.

Great day in a Glasgow for the Campaign for Freedom in Scotland’s 40th anniversary conference.

Guilty! In my defence, I wanted to decorate with friends and last night was the only date that worked. But I’m keeping the curtains drawn because I don’t want the neighbours to judge.

Having to complete my annual time allocation survey during research leave in a week with conference travel is awkward. Does it count as teaching prep if I later use this picture of King John’s tomb in a lecture on Magna Carta?

Long walk as antidote to long week.

This is the second day in a row I’ve woke up before 5am, but today was for the much more pleasant reason of travelling to Worcester for tomorrow’s international law in the UK conference.

Meant to be on the Black Isle for a research trip, but can’t say I’m getting much writing done with sunny days like these.

Glad I got the early train to Stirling this morning for some exploring before the Scottish International Law Conference.

Some highlights from Day 1 of #iconsmadrid as Day 2 gets underway:
1. A room with a view for the emerging scholars reception and 2. Plenary discussion with presidents of IACtHR, ACHPR and recent ECtHR president.

Day 2 starts with an al fresco breakfast before setting off on the final leg to Madrid.

A 30 minute train delay hasn’t kept me from enjoying a spritz a l’Italienne at my destination for the night. Roll on Day 2.
