I just want to say thank everyone for donating and sharing the post for the funeral services. Any funds that may come in over what we need for the funeral will go to purchasing flowers and paying for the wake, and anything after that will go to Jordin's mother to help with bills since she's been out of work through all of this. We are so thankful beyond words to everyone for doing what they could. It is going to be a long road for the girls and Andrew (their father) in healing from this tragedy, but your compassion has helped to take one less stressor from us all during this time. I love you all deeply and am eternally thankful for the family that I have found in this crew as a whole. ~Eros

Ed steps carefully beyond the threshold, pushing the massive door closed behind him, and halts in his tracks. Candles—hundreds of them, maybe thousands—flood the interior of the church, lining the altar, the pews, the curve of the apse. Their flames pulse low and steady, expelling shadows in a conscious, silent heartbeat along the walls. Demons dancing. Ed drags his eyes up over the gothic ceiling, following as they climb endlessly around the pillars and stretch boney fingers into the heavens. Above him the faces of saints twist, eyes hungry and mouths snarling with sinister intent. He pulls his gaze away quickly before the thought alone has them crashing down to devour him. Ed focuses his eyes ahead of him, searching in the shifting shadows until he can make out the dais in the distance, and steps between the glowing pews. The fall of his foot is like thunder, shattering the quiet like glass with a single movement. Abruptly, the temperature drops—a bone deep chill sweeping through his veins like being plunged into ancient waters. All at once, a violent shiver runs down his spine, jolting his body into movement. Ed reaches out a hand swiftly, steading himself on the pew next him and a rush of air bursts itself from his lungs, crystalizing. His throat goes raw with the burn of cold enveloping him. It should be a warning—Danger—but he hasn’t taken a single one yet, he isn’t about to start now. Not when he’s so close to bringing this to an end. Ed pushes forward, bracing against the sudden freeze, determination focused on each slow step until the alter becomes clear and distinguishable in his sight. It’s not the alter he remembers from boyhood though, or even from a few months ago when he laid his father to rest. Archaic symbols are cut deeply into the stone, a language that he cannot read but recognizes in his blood. Something not made to be read with the tongue, but burnt into the mind, carved into the soul. Ed stares at the script, the way it’s slashed hastily, yet precise with a skilled hand. The symbols appearance mirror the sound of Katarina’s lullaby, and he feels mesmerized. Something moves in his periphery, passing over the shadows of flame light that have taken on new forms, but he cannot will himself to move. The atmosphere around him shifts, humming low. Ed can’t tell if he’s still breathing or not, the vibration of an inaudible frequency resonating in his chest, through his heart. The hair on his neck prickles, activating every one of his survival instincts at once, and his limbs flood with adrenaline that has to where to go. “It’s primal, you know?” a voice rings out. It sounds like it’s coming from every direction, bouncing erratically through the chamber. “Fearing the shadows. That innate panic telling you to run. ” Ed tries again to move but he remains paralyzed with his eyes pinned to the carvings. An outline bleeds slowly into frame just beyond the alter stone, as of materializing from nothing. The mirage appears jagged and broken, moving in ways that no living thing can. “Running is only effective when it’s away though, Edward. If you keep running towards the wolf, eventually…” All at once the cathedral goes silent and the invisible chains holding him captive fall away. Ed slumps with the release and his gaze snaps up to the figure before him. His eyes adjust to the muted golden hues of candlelight casting just enough brightness to reveal their features. “…you get the teeth.” Ed’s heart screams in his chest, every muscle aching with confusion. The breath he had just regained catches in his throat once more, disbelief drowning him. Tears well in his eyes, pain unlike anything that’s come before. He gasps in reaction and then exhales a single, quaking, word. Then a series of emojis hiding the name...

WNVC Breaking New Anchor 1: “Tonight, a city mourns the loss of New Verona business executive and philanthropist Katarina Bonnet, shot and killed late last night in what authorities are calling a targeted attack.” Anchor 2: “Bonnet, was widely regarded as a rising star in the family business, lauded for her recent work on the revitalization project. Her death has sent shockwaves through the city’s political and social elite.” Chief: “We are currently investigating all leads. At this time, our primary suspect is Edward Teach—heir to the Teach family legacy and a known figure in New Verona’s underworld crime syndicate.” Anchor 2: “Teach is believed to have fled the scene shortly after Bonnet’s death. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anchor 1: “In a related incident, a fire broke out earlier this morning at the Teach residence in North End. Investigators have not ruled out arson, though no official statement has been released. As tensions rise between the city’s founding families, officials urge calm. But with no statement from the Bonnet patriarch, and Edward Teach still at large, many fear this is only the beginning.” The Towers Security guards stand shoulder to shoulder at the main entrance, guns visible. Charles watches at the edge of the main floor, jaw tight. His phone buzzes unanswered at his side. A Bonnet lieutenant whispers something into his ear. Charles nods, grim. "Lock it down." ~*~ Elysium Jim locks the service door, eyes scanning the empty back alley. A bat leans beside the frame. Behind them, faint music still plays inside—unaware or unwilling to acknowledge the shifting ground. Fang leans against a wall nearby, phone still in hand from his call with Ed. “They’re gonna start rounding us up,” he mutters. Jim doesn’t look at him. “Let them try.” ~*~ South General Hospital A Bonnet suit stands outside a hospital room, hands folded in front of him as he watches. Todd blinks awake in his hospital bed, groaning in pain, and a nurse comes in. Besides his bed a habit covered head lifts to him, thumb still scrolling the phone in her hand. She turns to Todd, eyes cold. “What?” he asks, voice low and raw. “Retaliation’s already started,” Rose tells him before making the sign of the cross, lips murmuring a prayer. A vigil for Katarina glows, a crowd gathering at the edge of the street where the Teach residence once stood, now reduced to ash and char. In the alley, a mural has already appeared overnight—hastily painted, illumunated with candles at its boarder. A woman lights one with shaking hands, jumping away when a black car screeches around the corner. A group of men stand watch from across the street, hands buried in jackets, waiting. ~*~ Two hooded figures unload crates by lamplight into Tartarus’ basement. Another man hurries behind them, pushing his way down the stairs urgently. “They’re moving,” he says quickly, not stopping for a reaction. “It’s starting.” One of the hooded men nods, palm tapping against the crate in his arms, “We’re ready.” ~*~ “New Verona remains under high alert tonight. With no statement from the Bonnet patriarch, and no sign of Edward Teach, fear continues to mount. Police presence has doubled in high-risk zones, but residents are advised to stay indoors until further notice.”

He is no stranger to dangerous situations, he thrives on them, but this is a threat all new, a thrill like no other. Edward is shiny and pristine, an unbroken, unknowing new toy, and Stede can’t wait to destroy him. To tear him open and see what makes him tick. The Teach boss shivers under his touch and melts at his words. He wants to be conquered, even if he doesn’t know it yet. And Stede wants nothing more than to rule over him; to put Edward on his knees and allow him to worship. There will be time for that later. Stede runs his hand down until his fingers lace with Edward’s and the other man’s breath stutters minutely as he’s tugged further into the room. If he wanted to, it would be nothing for Teach to overpower him, to twist out of his grip and turn things around. This is a mind game though, not a fight for physical dominance, and Stede has the upper hand; if for no other reason than he knows what he’s about to commit to. He stops, halting Edward and dropping his hand before they reach the bed. Edward doesn’t move, doesn’t reach out for him, as Stede steps a slow circle around him. “See anything you like?” Edward asks, and Stede doesn’t miss the break in his confident tone, voice breathy and rough. Stede lifts a hand to trail across his shoulders, taking a step into Edward’s back until his lips trail hot across the brunette’s neck. “Yes,” he breathes the word into Edward’s skin, feeling the shudder that rolls through him when Stede drags his hands around to run up his chest. “I’d like to see more though.” With the grace and speed of a well-practiced predator, Stede twists out of Edward’s grip, looping his hand around the other man’s wrist and spinning him around so they’re face to face. He watches the panic flicker across Edward’s face at the loss of control, and then the rise of a new tide. His mouth falls open prettily, ready to protest the new dynamic when Stede pulls them flush together. A quiet gasp of surprise escapes Edward, and Stede reaches up to place a single finger across his lips, silencing him before he can speak. “Quiet, love,” he whispers firmly, eyes dropping to Edward’s lips. “I’m the one speaking now.” How long has he waited for this moment? To be in the presence of the one thing he’s always wanted but has always been out of his reach. His eyes slide back up and Teach cowers under his gaze, his warm brown eyes dancing in the light of the fire, locked with Stede’s. Some new monster breathes under his skin, a starved animal ready to tear flesh from bone in search of blood. “Do you want me, Edward?” He doesn’t have to ask. The look on the other man’s face says everything that he already needs to know. This is a game that Stede is more than proficient in playing. Edward looks hypnotized, his answer immediate and lacking hesitation. “Yes,” he breathes hot against Stede’s finger. The intention is to prolong this for as long as possible, but Stede is hit with a sudden and immense desire to know what Edward tastes like, to drink him in deeply to sate the growing thirst, and his blood burns with a new intensity. Stede runs his finger along the curve of Edward’s lips, letting it catch on the lower as he draws it down, and Edward sways where he stands, eyelids fluttering. “And what are you willing to do to get what you want?” “Anything.”

The ricocheting echo of his footsteps fill the space as he treads slowly across the polished hardwood, his shadow spreading endlessly before him. Behind him a great clock, gilded and sullen, sings out the notes of the night ending. The dawning of a new day. Along the painted walls rises the hue of morning, orange and fiery, blending the flashing of red lights into the tapestry of ruin. Stede pauses—Calm—and reaches into his pocket. With a single strike the smell of sulfur fills the air and the flame flickers warm in front of his face. May the fire of purification burn away our sins. The gasoline ignites, fire springing to life as if raised by magic from the depths. It trails in the pattern he has drawn out, a sacrifice to the old gods who have waited so patiently for him to return to them. They climb forth, ready to feed, begging to do his bidding, and Stede accepts their offer. The rules of the game have changed now. Edward Teach must die
