There is, or was, a place in Milford Sound, here in Aotearoa New Zealand, where you could descend steps to an underwater observation chamber, and see (amongst other things), Lingula, in its natural environment.

Don't think so - that's when you *rescue* your own citizens from a difficult or dangerous situation overseas.

"The NZ government has arranged a repatriation flight for kiwis stranded in the area affected by the earthquake"

Not quibbling but I've never heard that term before; where did you get the definition?

To me, 'remigration' means - or sounds like it means - citizens overseas returning. For instance, I'm an American who left for NZ - 'remigration' would be if I decided to go back to the USA. (NOT happening!)

True conversation from when daughter was young:

Me: I know what you're going to be when you grow up!
Daughter: What?
Me: Anything you like!
Daughter: NO!!!

Seeing that mountain, that hotel, and that cloud makes me think 'Intervention'!

To no surprise whatever...

Not quite clear why they would stop at jewelry and watches. Surely there's an opportunity to do something with gold-filled teeth too? They could put them some kind of... camp... to facilitate the process?

Oh gosh... I remember GNUstep... 16 years ago!

It depends on the jurisdiction. In Scotland you can vote, form a legal contract, join the army, have sex, and get married, at 16.

There's no age restriction on getting divorced, and your spouse is never your legal guardian!

USA, they tie themselves in illogical legal knots so often...

Fun fact: the biggest single company in Aotearoa New Zealand, the backbone of our economy - Fonterra, the dairy giant - is also a farmer-owned co-op.

And their plants are also unionised!

That's just weird and unprofessional. Where I Work, all interviews are done on Teams - this is so all candidates are on an equal footing; remote candidates aren't at a disadvantage compared to local candidates who could attend in person.

Well, I had three rental Teslas with issues.

Two were caused by previous renters doing Weird Things and Avis not checking them before they went out again (long story)

One left me dead in my motel - but the failure was the standard 12V auxiliary battery, can happen to ANY car.
November 15, 2025 at 3:00 AM
I agree - I'm about to take delivery of a new IM6 (google it if you're American, you don't have them there!)

Faster than a Tesla and better technology.

A used Tesla from Japan auction *was* on my list but since Elon outed himself I wouldn't be seen dead in one.

Just saying they're not bad cars.
November 15, 2025 at 2:58 AM
I found them comfortable.

"older than most cars ever spend on one generation of a body style" - weird take; if it's not broke don't fix it - not a fan of changing for the sake of change.

Their 400V architecture is getting old but that doesn't bother me - I would buy used at Japanese auction.
November 15, 2025 at 2:51 AM
The only bit of that that's true is the bit about breaking down.

I've never owned a Tesla but I've ended up with a rental one quite a few times and the reliability has been... unimpressive!

Otherwise they're pretty good cars, would be on my shortlist to buy if not for Elon.

I cannot in good conscience 'like' this post! 😆

We're keeping an eye on it here at Geonet in New Zealand too!
